GIS I: ArcMap Introduction

This is an introductory, instructor-led, hands-on workshop open to any KU student, staff or faculty member in any discipline. The exercise is designed to teach attendees how to start using geospatial data and software such as ArcGIS. Participants will learn about some fundamental geographic information systems (GIS) concepts. Participants will work through step-by-step exercises in ArcMap to become familiar with navigational tools, geospatial data format and to explore GIS data from both the spatial and tabular side.

Workshop content (data, exercise and tools, etc.) is different than taught in previous semesters, though will still be a rigorous introduction to ArcMap and geospatial data. ArcMap is commonly used, widely-applicable and powerful geographic information systems software.
